Spoken Word / Comedians of Carolina

Mansion 462’s Monday night line up starts with Spoken Word poetry at 8pm followed by stand-up comedy at 9. This popular show includes the best in local and regional talent and even professional comics on a regular basis. Think you’ve got what it takes to make people laugh… call for an audition! We’re always looking for new comics, as well as Spoken Word performers.

Clif Wallace Trio

Cliff began performing professionally while still in high school and has since performed with jazz greats such as Branford Marsalis, John Hendricks, Jimmy Owens, Robert Trowers, Yusef Saleem, Brian Horton, Joey Calderazzo, and Stephanie, Marlon, and Kent Jordan. He has also played and recorded with John Brown (bassist with Elvin Jones, Nneena Freelon, and Vanessa Rubin).

Southern Routes - June 26 - 7:30pm

The Unusual Suspects - June 28 - 11:00pm

This Charleston, SC/Atlanta, GA-based band has been touring the Southeast in support of their newest record, the "Coney Island EP." Their sound has been compared to Ryan Adams meets Social Distortion.

Eric Sommer - July 5 - 9:00pm

Recently Compared to John Prine, Elvis Costello, and Dave Edmunds, Sommer’s songs are “striking in their cool sophistication, powerful in the format and as kick-ass as you can get" (Boston Rocker).

The Woos - July 15 - 9:00pm

The Woos are a fun-loving band from Hillsborough and Chapel Hill. We play a blend of southern and alternative groove rock. With a few soulful ballads thrown in. Come hear some original music with cool melodies and a foot-tapping beat.

Oso Optimo - July 15 - 10:00pm

Oso Optimo is a collaboration of three friends spawning from regional bands such as Yearling & Dakota Darling, just to name a few. With the aural ingredients of noisy guitars, distorted bass, falsetto’s, and heavy-handed drumming the band hopes to put their spin on the ever growing abyss that is music.

Still Pink - July 15 - 11:00pm

For a three-piece band, Still Pink sounds bigger and plays tighter than bands with those extra one or two members. They're playing pop rock in a classic rock style with touches of modern pop blended in. "Out the Door" and "Twilight Worker" on their Myspace player are a great examples of the classic rock vibe mixed with modern pop.

Tain Collins Duo - August 19 - 8:00pm

Tain Collins expresses a sound both organic and powerful. The poignant songwriting of lead man Tain Collins challenges the status quo with a humanistic approach. Harkening to John Lennon lyrical themes and a Pearl Jam like edge to the music, their songs are both personal and universal.

8 eyes - August 22 - 8:00pm

8 Eyes blends the sounds of electric and exotic stringed instruments with a solid foundation of pop songwriting. Their unique musical approach sets them apart from other groups on the "alternative" scene.
